The reflections of a parent journeying through the world of autism.
The world of autism can be a lonely place for the parents and carers of children and young adults on the spectrum. As we embark on our journey through life accompanied by autism, we frequently come across challenges in our path, and as a result of limited support, often find ourselves struggling to make sense of what can best be described as unfamiliar territory.
As a parent of a child on the spectrum myself, I have had first-hand experience of what it feels like to be faced with such challenges and milestones, and have consequently found myself, on many an occasion, to be completely, and in some cases utterly, overwhelmed and consumed by emotion and worry, unable to be the parent that I always hoped I would be.
The ASC Box is an open and honest account of our autism journey to date. It is not a parenting guide or self-help book, hence if you seek advice and/or strategies, these are probably not the pages for you. However, if what you seek is an escape from the isolation of your emotions, and an opportunity to find comfort, familiarity and understanding, in what can be an incredibly confusing and demanding world, then I would like to think that you have stumbled upon the right book, because that was my aim!

May you feel less alone, as I already do, just knowing you are by my side.
